Free Distance Learning Courses for GMB Members

The GMB are offering all members of the Birmingham and West Midlands Region the opportunity to further their education by taking advantage of a variety of free courses.

 

All distance learning courses are nationally recognised level 2 qualifications equivalent to an A-C grade GCSE Accredited by NCFE and lifetime awarding organisation.

At present all courses are fully funded however the following restrictions apply:

•You must be 19 years age as at 31st August 2016, Lived in the EU for the past three years and currently reside in England.

•The learner must have a full level 2 qualification ie. Diploma Level 2, 5 GCSEs grade A*-C, Functional Skills, First Diploma, NVQ Level 2, First Certificate or Principle Learning Level 2. If a learner does not meet these requirements, a fee to undertake the course will be applicable.

•All Courses are 16-20 weeks in duration based on 8-10 hours of learning per week.

•Learners will be allocated to a tutor at the beginning of the course who can be contacted at any point for support throughout their learning.

•Learning Materials will be issued to all learners once the enrolment has been completed and will include the following: Individual learning plan, Work Books, Assessment Booklets, Free-post Envelopes for returning work, useful Assessment Tips, College handbook and Perception Survey.

•Tutors will provide written feedback for each unit within 15 days. If the resubmission is required the tutor will detail how.

•All submitted work will be assessed by Somerset College and subject to moderation once this process has been completed the learner will be sent their certificates within 12 weeks.

•If a learner who commits to undertake a course but does not see it through to completion, Somerset College will charge a £120 Non-Completion fee to the Learner.
