Hi all,
I’m Sam, and I’m the Young Members Officer for GMB Trade Union’s Sandwell branch. GMB recognises anybody aged 30 or below as a young member.
As Young Members Officer, my first task is to get as many young members as possible involved with the union. I’m not looking at setting up Young Member meetings with minutes and agendas and discussing everything and nothing at this stage, but would rather organise a night out with some sort of entertainment and get to know as many of you as possible.
I’m liaising with the Young Members Officer in GMB’s Birmingham branch and we’re looking at doing a joint night out. Our initial thought is a night out at the dogs in Perry Barr (as a fairly convenient location for Sandwell and Birmingham members). We will look at covering the cost of entrance tickets and potentially a free bet or free drink, depending on numbers and will look at doing this early in the new year.
